News and Announcements

There has been a lot of concern regarding pets and the H1N1 virus. According the American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA) , it is unlikely for cats and dogs to contract the H1N1 virus. Like most viruses, it appears to be transmitted from person to person. However; the AVMA reported in October 2009 that a USDA laboratory confirmed the H1N1 infection in a ferret, a pig and a cat. So far there are no reports of the virus being trasmitted from a ferret or a pig to a person. In the cases of the cat and ferret, it's believed the animals contracted the virus from their owners.
Our Veterinarians are consistely keeping up to date with the current information available and will continue to update this information as needed.
